A
discussion of Nazis.
It
appears such a quiet and nondescript location that
it's not difficult to imagine a culture being isolated
by desert and sea so as to persist through history
unnoticed.. atleast until Rommel and the Nazis in
World War II in Tubruq. (which does beg the question
'was Hitler looking for something ..specific?')
Is
it possible that the Nazis were searching for something
of an esoteric nature? The more that becomes evident
of their attachement to this area, the ideas represented
in the movie Indiana Jones and the Holy
Grail come to mind. Maybe the Nazis
were looking for the secrets of the Pyramid builders
that came before the Egyptians.
Ultimately
this entire region has a story to tell which may
be of some significance. Since these places and
monuments are separate and 'outside' the historical
record the world must now pause to consider the
importance to World Heritage.
If
the few inhabitants of these remote locations have
a history to share (even through simple legend
and/or folklore) Earth's cultural
heritage shall be greatly enriched.
